While thinking about the roster for Deathbattle's impending match between Wily and Robotnik, the concept of "who is the best" among Wily's army naturally came to mind. While Wily's Boss Class Robots are all dangerous agents able take down armies on their own, which among them are truly the greatest threat? Naturally such a robot would balance speed and power, have diverse and clever weaponry, as well as great combat skill and savvy. Time to delve into the insanity that is the "power levels debate" as the E-Can Factory picks the strongest Boss Class Robot from each game of the Rockman Series.
When making these selections, a wide variety of sources are taken into consideration. Their storyline credentials, difficulty to defeat in-game, and diversity of their attacks are all critical factors. Naturally Boss Robots that have made reappearances get extra credit as well. On the rare occasion it's available, creator's opinion are thrown into the mix as well. To help with the argument, a list of attacks are also included. But since names for all the attacks are not known, an asterisks (*) will be used to indicate where I "fudge them". This article will only cover Rockman 1 to Rockman 5; Rockman 6 to Rockman 10 will be covered in a follow up article.
Rockman: DRN 008 Elecman

Storyline-wise, Elecman was originally considered Dr. Right's best robot among his first six boss robots. After seeing him in action, it's easy to figure out why. This Atomic Energy Controller Robot is both blindingly fast and carries a large amount of electrical energy which he uses in battle. Most well known for being able to quickly take out Rockman in three shocks from his specialty arms, the Thunder Beam.
Known Special Attacks:
- Thunder Beam: Self circulating bolt of electricity of variable strength. It may travel through the air or along the ground. (Rockman, World, Power Fighters)
- Thunder: A long paralyzing beam of electricity. (Power Fighters)
- Thunder Bolt: A large electrical field is formed around the body, then discharged. Will eventually fly into the sky and release a mulit-directional rain of Thunder (Power Fighters)
- Lighting Bolt: Calls upon powerful bolts of lighting from the sky. Is invincible during this attack (Rockman Rockman)
- Barrier: A defensive electrical force field.(Power Fighters)
Rockman 2: DWN 012 Quickman

Despite, all these years, Quickman still holds the title of "Fastest Robot In the World" in the Rockman Universe. Quickman is Dr. Wily's high velocity anti-Rockman Combat Robot, always out to prove his superiority in both speed and combat ability. Per his namesake, his most dangerous asset is his speed, which he uses for strong physical strikes against foes. Even Inafune Keiji says Quickman holds a special combat rival position against Rockman, which speaks volume of this guy's threat level.
Known Special Attacks:
- Quick Boomerang: A spinning blade with the ability to make quick vector changes in mid flight per the will of it's user. (Rockman 2, World, Power Fighters, Super Adventure)
- *Dash: A high speed forward charge powered by rockets, it is known to leave a shadow trail. (Power Fighters)
- *Quick Tornado: A technique where he rotates at high velocity, while moving is elipses towards foes. (Super Adventure)
Rockman 3: DWN 024 Shadowman

One of the most mysterious Wily Robots, Shadowman is an espionage robot said to be made with alien technology of unknown origins. As his motif suggests, he is built to emulate ninja techniques for use in stealth missions as well as in combat. It has been said his abilities are unique to the mysterious alien technology. He is most dangerous in close range combat, utilizing both speed and martial arts to take out foes.
Known Special Attacks:
- Shadow Blade: A large mulit-directional shuriken. It is coated with a mysterious substance known to short circcuit machines. Can be thrown in rapid sucession or tandem to cover wider areas (Rockman 3, World 3, Power Fighters, Super Adventure)
- *Slide Kick: A fast long range kick that quickly propels the user along the floor at great speeds. A technique that is both offensive and defensive. (Rockman 3, World 3, Power Fighters)
- *Shadow Replica Technique: Allows Shadowman to create solid illusionary clone of himself. Used to hide his position, block, and launch wide range attacks.(Power Fighters, Super Adventure)
- *Smoke Bomb: Used to escape sight (Super Adventure)
Rockman 4: DWN 029 Ringman

There were many contenders from Rockman 4, but the one that stood out from the pack by a nose is Ringman. Born from the combined efforts of Dr. Cossack and Dr. Wily, he is a robot specifically customized for anti-Rockman combat. Ringman is known to quickly dispatch his foes with his specialty arms, the Ring Boomerang. It is this particular weapon combined with Ringman's dexterity in it's usage that makes him a hazardous foe on the battlefield.
Known Special Attack:
- Ring Boomerang: A fast boomeranging aerodynamic ring capable of remaining in straight vector flight regardless of obstacles. Known to penetrate barriers and shields with ease. (Rockman 4, World 4)
Rockman 5: DWN 40 Crystalman

While Naplamman has certainly taken the limelight for Rockman 5's Boss Robots, he would not be the most dangerous. That title would go to Crystalman, an artifical crystal generating robot Dr. Wily has repurposed for combat. It is the quality of Crystalman's crystal production that make me a dangerous warrior, as it allows him to produce his speciality arms. Called the Crystal Eye, it is a the scattering attack that is extremely difficult to dodge because of it's speed and wide range in closed quarters.
Known Special Attacks:
- Crystal Eye: A burst of four high impact crystal balls. They fly rapidly and will richoche off most any surface. (Rockman 5, World 4)
- *Energy Shot: A basic energy projectile weapon that fires bullets from his abdomin (Rockman 5, World 4)
