The Death Battle! between Robotnik and Wily has come and gone. But any fan of either the Rockman or Sonic Series who watched it would easily see that the selection of forces were in no way a fair comparison. One aspect of this is that you had rosters of robots of very different roles and of very different level hierarchy pitted against each other as if they were somehow equivalent representatives.
While I do understand that the rosters were determined based on the criteria to most efficiently and effectively making an entertaining video, it still doesn't leave me feeling satisfied. Rather, I find myself contemplating a properly congruent roster of combatants. If you are doing a comparison of strength, it only seems fitting to compare characters of matching roles. So I present E-Can Factory's choices for Wily Forces in the mode of matching Robotnik's. Note that this is specifically matching Dr. Wily's roster to what Death Battle! selected for Robotnik's side. This is because it's far easier given Wily's variety of robots compared to Robotnik's.
Silver Sonic vs Copy Robot
If you are matching up evil "first copy of the hero" robots to each other, Silver Sonic should have to face Copy Robot. Appearing in Rockman, He was produced after Rockman fell into Dr. Wily's 3D replicator machine. As replicas go, Copy Robot is fairly complete, with all the same weapons and abilities as Rockman at the height of his power during Rockman. This includes access to weapons such as Thunder Beam and Fire Storm in addition to the Rockbuster.
Mecha Sonic vs Rockman?
A second hero clone robot? If that's the stakes, then Mecha Sonic should of found a comparable foe in Rockman?. And don't confuse the "?" as a question, as that's it's actual name. Appearing in Rockman Rockman, he is replica of Rock with battle raiment similar to the Rockman transformation. Though these similarities are only skin deep, as Rockman? does not seem to have a Rockbuster or the Weapon Change System. Don't let that put your guard down though, as his variation of a particle energy weapon seem just as effective as the Hyper Rockbuster. He is also far more brash and savvy of his surroundings.
E-102 Beta Mk II vs Hannya NED²
In the match up, Beta basically fills the role of massive flying battle arsenal. Among Wily's dangerous mecha, the Hannya NED² would be the robot to fit that bill. This giant mechanized mask served as a castle guardian boss in Rockman 7. Along with flight and heavy armoring that renders most attacks ineffective against it, Hannya NED² also has an almost endless supply of Hisatsu Bombs and missiles, as well as a sweeping spectrum laser.
Egg Robo vs *Wily Decoy
The only significance of the EggRobo is it's ability to play out Dr. Robotnik's mecha operation. Otherwise, he's fairly benign as a minion. With "robotic mecha pilot" in mind, the equivalent robot would be the un-named Wily Decoy. First appearing in Rockman 3, and having made an appearance as recently as Rockman 10, it's a robot that is a visual replica of Wily, able to pilot mecha as complicated as a Wily Machine.
Scratch & Grounder VS Cut Man & Guts Man
When this selection for Death Battle! was made, it was done in context of "those wacky bumbling minions from the TV show". If we were to follow that mode of thinking, you would have the equivalence apply to the Mega Man Cartoon Series, and thus Wily's constant sidekicks in that show. Cartoon Mega Man's Cut Man and Guts Man are unfortunately quite a ways less intelligent and less well equipped compared their video game originals. But sure enough they still have the Rolling Cutter and strength they are respectively known for.
Shadow Androids vs Dokurobot K-176s
A batch of robotic duplicates with copied abilities that will conduct team battles. Going from this criteria, I would say the Dokurobot K-176 Series would be the proper competitive force against the Shadow Android legion. While the Dokurobots do number far lower than that of the Shadow Androids, they make up for it with power outputs far higher than that of the originals they emulate. And unlike the Shadow Androids, Dokurobots' armaments and physical abilities are modeled after the Combat Boss Robots from Rockman 2. Metal Blades, Air Shooters and Crash Bombs, oh my~
Mecha Knuckles vs Darkman 4
A battle between robotic doppelgangers to the ally to the hero? We don't have to look further than Darkman 4. This hefty battle robot was plot central in Rockman 5, posing as Blues with his hologram system. But visual deception is definitely not the only thing in this robot's arsenal. With strength and abilities seemingly originating from Darkman 1 to 3's, Darkman 4 is a highly effective and powerful combat robot with a lot of abilities to it's disposal.
Metal Sonic vs Forte
Anybody building a roster of Robotnik vs Wily will invariably pit these two robots together, so it's no surprise that I would do the same. I will use this opportunity to state that Death Battle! really underplayed this character. Forte was credited as only a marginally more effective warrior compared to Wily's other robots, which is incorrect. His appearances as playable protagonist suggest that he can at least pull his paces as a fearsome force able to take out an army on his own. Furthermore, you would expect him to have powered up during the match by collecting fallen Boss Robots' Special Arms. How you can have Metal Sonic, who never had scanned/copy machines get weapons while the Character that specializes in copying weapons not copy anything is something I just shake my head at.
The Egg Fleet vs The Space Rulers
Personally I call foul when Robotnik got to literally bring another whole army with him with "the Egg Fleet". After all, those ships aren't flying themselves last I checked, and it held with it the bulk of Eggman's army in every game they appeared in. But if you are going to get away with it being some "squadron" entity because it was named and had a vague technical divide from other other forces, the Egg Fleet should be faced against the world dominating force of the Space Rulers.
Built utilizing alien technology and elements, these robots vanguards and their associated standing army of robots were able to take down the world's government after their surprise attack against Rockman. They are as much a "world domination" squadron to Wily as the Egg Fleet is to Robotnik.
